Passive Voice


1.      Definisi kalimat passive :
Passive sentence is a sentence that begins with the prefix “in-“ or “too“ in Indonesian. But in general, English passive are formed by adding “tobe“ before “V3“.
2.      Rumus kalimat passive :

Passive Voice = S + Auxiliary Verb + V3



A.    Simple Present
Active                   : S + V1 + Object.
Passive                  : Object + tobe + V3. 
Example :
Aktif                     : Lia Maemun makes a strawberry cake.
Pasif                      : A strawberry cake is made by Lia Maemun.

B.     Present Future
Active                   : S + will + V1 + Object.
Passive                  : Object + will + be + V3.
Example :
Active                   : I will wait for her tomorrow.
Passive                  : She will be waited for by me tomorrow.

C.     Present Perfect
Active                   : S + Have/Has + been + V3 + Object.
Passive                  : Object + Have/Has + been + V3.
Example :
Active                   : He has prepared great slides for the presentation.
Passive                  : Great slides has been prepared for the presentation.

D.    Present Continuous
Active                   : S + tobe + V-ing + Object.
Passive                  : Object + tobe + being + V3.
Example :
Active                   : You are usually watching TV when I come.
Passive                  : TV is usually being watched when I come.

E.     Present Future Perfect
Active                   : S + will + Have + V3 + Object.
Passive                  : Object + will + Have + been + V3.
Example :
Active                   : My father has just given some money to me.
Passive                  : Some money has just been given to me.

Passive                  : Mary is bitten by John.

B.     Active                   : Linda can make tarts.
Passive                  : Tarts can be made by Linda.

C.     Active                   : She sang a fine song
Passive                  : A fine song was sung by Her.

D.    Active                   : We gave him a prize
Passive                  : A prize was given him by us.

E.     Active                   : Nick help Merry.
Passive                  : Merry is helped  by Nick.

F.      Active                   : A lot of people are talking about internet.
Passive                  : Internet is being talked about by a lot of people.

G.    Active                   : I bought a new car last week.
Passiv                    : A new car was bought by me last week.

H.    Active                   : Someone drives the car everyday.
Passive                  : The car is driven everyday.

I.       Active                   : Yudi sent the letter.
Passive                  :  The letter was sent by Yudi.

J.       Active                   : A thief stole Ann’s purse.
Passive                  : Ann’s purse was stolen by a thief.

Active                   : Toni sings the song.

B.     Passive                  : The food is eaten by then.
Active                   : The eat the food.

C.     Passive                  : The dishes are washed by Ratna everyday.
Active                   : Ratna washes the dishes everyday.

D.    Passive                  : A new pen is bought by me.
Active                   : I buy a new pwn.

E.     Passive                  : English is studied by John everyday.
Active                   : John studies English everyday.

F.      Passive                  : A picture is drawn by me.
Active                   : I draw a picture.

G.    Passive                  : The story is not written by her.
Active                   : She does not write the story.

H.    Passive                  : Is the food cooked by your mother ?
Active                   : Does your mother cook the food ?

I.       Passive                  : Is the song sung by them ?
Active                   : Do they sing the song ?

J.       Passive                  : We are not helped by him.
Active                   : He doesn’t help us.
